A Premiere Middle Eastern Dance Troupe

What is Bellydance?

Bellydance is a term widely used in America to describe certain styles of Middle Eastern dance.   Most people visualize a solo dancer in a two-piece costume with sequins and beads, using a veil and finger cymbals – but this is just the tip of the iceberg.  Middle Eastern dance, also called raks sharqi and Oriental dance, is an ancient art form which encompasses a vast array of nightclub and folkloric dance styles representing different regions of the Middle East, such as Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Morocco, and Tunisia.  The objective of a Middle Eastern dance performer is to become the visual embodiment of the music, therefore students learn movements and technique along with Middle Eastern rhythms, instruments, and musical composition.

Middle Eastern dance is a celebration of the female spirit.  It is a dance form enjoyed and supported by women and is accessible to women of all shapes, sizes and ages.  It is never too late to start exploring the beauty and joy of this creative outlet.
